Diane Young Psychotherapy and Supervision
in Portsmouth, Havant and Hayling Island

Previous experience

I have many years of experience working within different counselling and psychotherapy services, both as a volunteer and in paid employment. As well as services to individual clients, I also offer supervision to other psychotherapists and counsellors.

I have been working in private practice since 2005, in London and in Hampshire.

I previously created a counselling service within a local mental health charity, offering both time-limited counselling to people experiencing depression and anxiety and longer-term psychotherapy to people who had experienced trauma. I supervised the trainee counsellors as well as holding my own caseload, in which I worked with clients with personality disorders and with strong dissociative processes and clients who had experienced relational trauma and sexual abuse. This frequently meant that I was working with clients who had periods of feeling suicidal.

I also have experience of working within the NHS, in a rape and sexual assault psychotherapy service in London, and worked as a volunteer at Portsmouth Abuse and Rape Counselling Service (PARCS).

My qualifications

I have formal qualifications in:

  • MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy (Metanoia Institute, London)
  • Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (Metanoia Institute, London)
  • Diploma for Group and Individual Supervision (The Grove, London)
